George Washington University Law School

For more than 30 years, The George Washington University Law School has been at the forefront of environmental legal education. The Environmental Law Program was established in 1970, and since then, it has grown and developed to keep pace with legal, scientific, economic, and social change.
The Law School's curriculum in environmental law emphasizes the laws regulating pollution abatement and prevention and includes a focus on energy law. The curriculum also includes a number of courses that address the increasingly global focus of environmental law, including international environmental law.
With backgrounds that include economics, international law, public health, urban planning, and scientific disciplines, the faculty teaching in the Environmental Law Program bring a broad, multi-disciplinary approach to the classroom. The Environmental Law faculty includes some of the most recognized scholars in the field, present and former high-level government officials, leaders in non-profit organizations, and distinguished practitioners.
