This website will search the Virginia Wind Resource Map and will acquire information that predicts the average wind speed associated with your address. If you came here from Geo-Coordinates your Latitude and Longitude coordinates will be in the input textboxes. If not, please input them now. When you are ready to proceed, click the Get Wind Info button. Be warned, this will take a few minutes since the website will search via 200x200 meter grid throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia for your site.

Latitude:
Longitude:

When the center grid turns red, the site has completed the search. The center grid indicates the pixel that best corresponds with your input coordinates, but, keep in mind that one grid represents a 10–acre land mass. Each grid cell surrounding the center represents an additional 10-acre land mass, and the cell(s) that turn(s) yellow represent(s) the areas of predicted maximum wind speeds among the surrounding pixels. If there is more than one cell that is yellow then they represent equal velocities.

Legend: Center, your house Maximum Wind Speed

You have the option of choosing any grid cell to apply to the analysis. You must click on See Data to link to the data for that cell. However, one-click options are provided if you wish to use the maximum wind speed of the surrounding grid, the center pixel that corresponds to the input address, or the average of the whole grid. If you choose the option of any point in the grid, you must click on Use Current to proceed forward. For the others, choose Use Maximum, Use Center, or Use Average. Regardless of the option chosen, you will be directed automatically to the Small Wind Economic Model.
